Conservatives Have to Get More Fanatic About Their Politics

The summer of 2020 has brought a wave of left-wing political activism unto which we have quite possibly never seen before. This isn’t to downplay the fact that this kind of activism and/or terrorism has been cranked up several notches since the 2010s, however. American flags being taken down and Mexican flags being hoisted up at ICE facilities in addition to Molotov cocktails being chunked at such facilities are a few of many examples proving how extreme left-wing political soldiers have become. However, a key difference displayed so far in the new decade is the frequency and intensity in which these protests and demonstrations of force seem to occur. This is evident given the aftermath of the death of George Floyd: cities were set ablaze, businesses were looted and destroyed, historic statues were toppled, and police forces were under siege across the country either within close proximity or in conjunction to left-wing Black Lives Matter protests. What has become an even more disturbing trend, however, is the newly-found assault on America’s suburbs.

Recently, a “neighborhood protest” to put it lightly, went down in the Minneapolis suburb of Hugo. This demonstration was commanded by Black Lives Matter and State House Candidate John Thompson, who assembled a large caravan to march in front of Minneapolis Police Union Leader Bob Kroll’s house. The angry mob led several chants outside of Kroll’s residence, blindly accused him of being a member of the KKK, walked on his lawn, and also laid signs against his garage door and on his driveway. In addition, the crowd brought a microphone that John Thompson proceeded to yell into, airing his grievances with the police and “racist” white people, threatening to burn down the town of Hugo, and cursing the members of the neighborhood community for their alleged complicity in white supremacy. In short, it was nothing more than an angry display of force, designed to intimidate Kroll and the residents of that neighborhood.

This is how fanatical the left is about their politics. This is how serious they are about their political movement, and how deeply personal their cause is to them: so personal that they will find out where you live, assemble a large caravan of people, and march right up to your doorstep to intimidate you. Some might call them the “looney left” for going to these extreme lengths, but unthinkable instances of harassment and terror such as this should not be downplayed. If anything, this should be a wake-up call, because an angry mob chanting outside your house because you’re a “racist” or because you work for law enforcement is a legitimate threat. Black Lives Matter and their ilk have complete animosity for their political adversaries and anyone standing in their way, and the hatred they possess fuels their desire to conquer and terrorize, no matter the cost. Furthermore, they believe the cause they are fighting for is so noble that any action carried out in the name of anti-racism-whether it be burning down city blocks or marching through a neighborhood to yell at the residents-is justified.

Conservatives need to come to grips with the reality that politics is becoming war. Common ground is quickly becoming nonexistent. There is a price to pay for political disagreements based on where you are and who you’re surrounded by. Sometimes a simple political disagreement will get you sucker punched and/or knocked out. A strict “us versus them” mentality is manifesting rapidly, and has already been internalized by the left more than it has by the right. Both sides are increasingly getting tired of one another, but one side has taken upon itself to channel their political anger through force and intimidation. It is evident from their rhetoric and their actions that the left clearly understands they are at war. As a collective, they know who they are, what they want to achieve, and most importantly, who they hate. They are also incredibly bold. They recognize that strength is in numbers, and they are becoming so confident that they are starting to march into neighborhoods and onto people’s property, almost as if they are daring them to do something about it. They are forcing the issue, forcing normal citizens into cultural and political submission, and as people who have been living in a mostly civil, modern democracy, we don’t know how to respond.

It is absolutely critical that conservatives become more fanatic about their politics; we no longer have the luxury to be lukewarm. Not only is this imperative because it is required to remain politically competitive in this hostile climate, but also because it’s more than politics; our safety, our security, our values, our way of life, and our country are quite literally under attack. Don’t get me wrong, elections are still important, and having Donald Trump remain in the White House is a key component in keeping this country headed in the right direction. But it’s simply not enough. On a more local level, keeping Donald Trump in the White House is not going to stop angry mobs from gathering outside your house. The GOP is not drafting any legislation making protesting in neighborhoods that aren’t yours a felony, and they’re not coming to save you from rabid left-wing mobs. Moreover, these are not isolated incidents. Just like the rioting in the cities, if no force or entity stops mobs from marching in residential areas, the frequency of such events will only increase. Not to mention, the longer these are allowed to take place, the greater chance they have at becoming violent or fatal.

Therefore, it is so important to match the left’s intensity when it comes to defending what’s ours. When your home and your family is threatened, it is personal, and the stakes are raised. Organize with like-minded people in your neighborhood and community. Have a plan and a sense of urgency if the mob decides to show up to your neighborhood. Treat your preparation as a matter of life or death. In addition, politics is more than just political parties or presidents or speeches; it dictates how we live. In order to maintain the lives that we want to live, where we run things how we want them run, we must actively participate in local politics. Show up to your city council meetings. Be as vocal as the mob is. Fight to forge communities that protect and prioritize its families and its small businesses, educate its children to love their country, and uphold law and order that makes civilized society possible. The silent majority cannot afford to continue to be silent as our towns are under attack and as our country is burning. As long as people sit on their hands and allow these agitators to run amok, our country will continue to get pushed around. We are at war. Defend your community and your country with unapologetic vigor.
